Applications (proposals) are accepted on an ongoing basis
by the Gila River Office of Special Funding and are handled
in the following manner:
- Upon receipt, applications are date stamped and reviewed
for completeness.
- An original and 7 copies of a completed application should be submitted and shall consist of:
- A completed application cover sheet signed by the city or town Mayor or the Chairman of a county board of supervisors.
- A narrative proposal that includes all of the elements outlined in the GRIC Application Format
- A resolution from the applicable governing body in support of the proposed project. This is a requirement for ALL grant applications, city/town or county government and non-profit alike. (Note: multiple projects can be addressed on one resolution for each funding cycle however a copy should be attached to each application that the resolution covers.)
- A budget as outlined in the GRIC Application Format.
- A list of other funders, potential funders and the amounts committed or requested.
- Complete applications are kept on file until the next
scheduled review and a letter is sent to both the applying
city, town or county and the contact person listed on the
application cover sheet stating the approximate month of
the review.
- Incomplete applications are kept on file and the applying
city, town or county and/or contact person are contacted
via telephone or email to discuss the additional elements
needed.
-
The Gila River Indian Community will award funds at least once a year by October 25, however availability of funds may allow for multiple review cycles in a year. Application deadlines for reviews are set by the Office of Special Funding. Applications received after these deadlines are held for the next review.
- Applications are reviewed by an appointed State Shared
Revenue Review Committee and the Community Council’s Government
and Management Standing Committee (G&M). The G&M
Committee then forwards final recommendations to the Community
Council who makes final approval on all grant awards.
- Applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome
of their proposal. In some cases applications may be held
for the next review if the Community has a particular interest
in the project but would like additional information or
if adequate funds are not available.
- Periodic reports are a requirement of all funds awarded.
A letter outlining the reporting requirements will be sent
to all grant recipients and must be signed and returned
to the Office of Special Funding.
- Actual grant funds are sent certified mail however the Community may schedule formal presentations
to grant recipients. This allows an opportunity to publicly
announce the award and to share the proposed project with
the general public. The Office of Special Funding will
work closely with recipients to arrange this presentation.
The application
format and review process is subject to change. It is recommended
that potential applicants periodically review this website
for updates to either of the above. |
